Posts on Jehovah’s Witnesses

The Jehovah’s Witness movement or “The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society” as its full title began in the late 1870’s. It was founded by Charles Taze Russell who printed a monthly magazine and taught that his biblical interpretation was Gods correct teaching. Since then the movement has grown to around 8 million+ and the movement teaches that to truly understand the Bible, you need to be one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. We see this in their publications:

“Only this organization functions for Jehovah’s purpose and to his praise. To it alone God’s Sacred Word, the Bible, is not a sealed book,” (Watchtower, July 1, 1973, p. 402).

And here:

“Thus the Bible is an organizational book and belongs to the Christian congregation as an organization, not to individuals, regardless of how sincerely they may believe that they can interpret the Bible,” (Watchtower, Oct. 1, 1967, p. 587).

As well as this they believe that Salvation is ultimately found in their movement and that there is a division between those that are born again, the 144.000 that will be with Jehovah in heaven and the rest of the “great crowd” that will be in paradise earth. They deny the Deity of Christ and that the Holy Spirit is divine nor a personal being.

If you are a Jehovah’s Witness our desire is to lovingly point you to Christ and show you that no works in any organization will be able to save you.  The Bible says of Jesus: Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

If you are a Christian and you can invite me to speak at your church on the importance of witnessing to “Witnesses” at your door, or in your day to day life, please email Tony Brown at tony.brown@aofe.org.uk and please browse around our sites and leave comments wherever you wish.
