Chapter 19 review – Remain in Gods Love
So this is it! The last chapter in the book. They are hoping at this stage you are already baptised and now this is the advice for remaining in God’s love.
The first thing in paragraph 2-3 is to “trust in God” – Amen!
However when you get to paragraph 4 it tells you what it really means. I quote from the
paragraph “and what does that gift mean for us? It gives us hope for a wonderful future”.
The bible would disagree :-
Romans 5:1 – Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Romans 5:9 – Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
So the Watchtower says we have a hope the future, the bible says we HAVE a guarantee NOW if the only we put faith in Christ and him alone.
It may appear that from paragraph 6-9 that Watchtower is giving advice for living out your Christian life. If this was correct, I would agree with the advice. It quotes Matthew 22:37, Matthew 7:16-20, and Isaiah 48:17,18 and these are great scriptures for living out our Christian life. But this is not what they are saying…..
They then make the point they want to make. “Observing Gods commandments will help us to remain in Gods love”.
As someone who loves God and his word, I submit to you that I am so far away from Gods glory and I am such a sinner that I break his commandments every-day. They miss the fact we are living in this sinful state. We remain in Gods love because of repentance of sin, not because we do our best to be good.
Titus 3:4,5 – But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His
You can be the best Jehovahs Witness ever, you are still going to sin. The difference is unless you believe Jesus is “I AM you will die in your sins” (John 8:24) – Jesus here referring to himself being Yahweh (Exodus 3:14, in the New World Translation reference bible). You can not be forgiven if you have a false Jesus.
Matthew 24:24 – For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
They then again emphasis in Paragraph 13 to keep on taking knowledge. And who have the knowledge? The Watchtower!!
I have plenty of knowledge of Alan Shearer, but I don’t know him because I have never met him or spoken to him.
Have you ever spoken to Jesus? No?
Then how can you expect to know him? God warns us.
Matthew 7:22,23 – On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your.
You cannot expect to know Jesus if you have never spoken to him. It is actually about knowing, not knowledge.
Paragraph 14 says about prayer and the importance of prayer. Of course as a Christian I agree. But prayer to the true God (not the one of the Watchtower) is more important, otherwise you pray to a God that does not exist. I quote “heartfelt prayer are vital aspects of our worship, and they help us to remain in God’s love.” Ok yes they are important, but are they what keeps us in Gods love?
Ephesians 2:8–9 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
– We remain in Gods love due to his kindness, nothing to do with us at all.
Paragraph 15-19 talks about how we now exercise faith by going door to door and of course Armageddon is coming so we must me “urgent” in our work! It now also adds something else “Yes, worshipping Jehovah with your spiritual brothers and sisters will help you to remain in Gods love.” So now they have added another requirement for Gods love!
Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
GIFT – not something that is worked for.
The final paragraph asks the question “am I worshipping God in the Way he has set out in the bible?” – I would like to ask a different question “am I worshipping God, or the Watchtowers version of God?”
1 John 4:1 – Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
I would like to ask the Jehovahs Witness, have they ever studied the Watchtower history? Charles Russell, Judge Rutherford, Nathan Knorr….have you tested them to see if they are false prophets? If you haven’t then may I suggest that you do, This is your eternal life at stake!
The title of this book has been called “What does the bible really teach?” It should have been called “What does the bible really NOT teach?”
If you want to know what the bible teaches I have some advice :-
READ THE BIBLE NOT THE WATCHTOWER
